Come by for a visit

Baton Rouge area folks please come see us at the Mistletoe Market!

In the Studio

Of course I should update this blog more often!  But when I get a spare minute I am doing my best to sit down and paint...of course the main push is Christmas inventory, tiles  for a big local craft show and orders for shops and this site.  I know it's only October, but October is when those Christmas gifts get painted.

And I am also working on two canvases. I am thinking about really focusing on the original art in the coming year.  You will see more mixed media offerings soon, I think.

Inspired and tired

Getting together new items for parent, grandparents, newlyweds and the wedding party.  I'm in the process of making inspiration reality; always a challenge, but such a rewarding one!

And of course, it's time to start thinking about the special holiday collection.  I watched "The Santa Clause II" yesterday to get ready for those designs.  My neighbors may really wonder about the Christmas music wafting from the studio window, but really, there is a logical explanation--or ,at least, a creative one.

Craft Night

Simple ceramic crosses, orginally meant as Christmas ornaments, but dressed up with paint, beading, embellishments and lavish ribbon, they become pretty wall hangings.  Look at some samples my friends made last night at our crafting get-together.  I love how  with the same materials and instruction different personalities produce such individual finished projects!

A Day in the Life

Busy getting this website up, taking photos of products to get them uploaded...not my favorite part of the process, butnecessaryif I want you to see the offerings, huh?   That's where discipline comes in, making sure I do all that needs to be done, even if I don't consider it fun.

Of course the painting is fun, but what I really enjoy about this online endeavor is getting to connect with people from near and far.  Even if you have no intention of purchasing any artwork from the site, please let me hear from you, even if it's just a "hello!

First Things First

Feeling a little self-conscious...who am I to think anybody would really be interested in my blah-blah-blah-ging?  But just in case, here goes:

My hope and desire is to really focus my time and energy into my painting; of course I can only do that if I have some measure of success.  The cliche of a "starving artist" is becoming all too understandable!  But even if this endeavor doesn't go entirely according to plan, I keep reminding myself that Pablo Picasso said, "The great thing is to do them, do them, do them."
